I do all my own stunts...

Aiden wore this shirt today (I posted this pic in the blog before this one). Little did I know that it would be all too true today.

We were playing at a friend's house this afternoon when Aiden had a horrible accident. My friend's house is gorgeous and she has a very long, steep staircase. She has wonderful, sturdy baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs, but I got careless. When I opened the top gate to go downstairs I didn't see Aiden just sneak past me. He was 3 stairs down when I asked him to go back upstairs. He turned around to face me, lost his balance, and fell down the entire staircase. Maybe 18 stairs in all? We're talking somersaults down the stairs, his head hitting the railing, and he landed flat on his face on the hardwood floors. My whole life flashed before my eyes. I was sure he had broken bones, or worse.

Thankfully, he was fine. A few minutes and one lollipop later he had made a full recovery. By the grace of God (and many of you know I don't call on Him too often) and the amazing resiliency of the toddler body, he is completely fine. Me? I'm still shaking.

For all those with babies or toddlers, let our misfortune be your warning: make SURE your toddler is behind you on the stairs and doesn't sneak past you when you open the baby gate!
